Radical Rats

Rats make wonderful pets, but many people still have the opinion that
rats are filthy, disease-carrying pests.  Rats are intelligent, sociable,
affectionate, cute, quiet, clean. The list goes on and on.
Rats are considered to be equal in intelligence, and in some cases more
intelligent, than dogs.  Rats, like dogs, respond to their name when
called.  They can be taught tricks, such as fetch and bowling!  Some rats
have even been litter box trained!
Rats are extremely sociable and love to be around their human
companions.  When you come home from school or work, they'll be
waiting for you at the door of their cage, begging to be let out so they
can be with you.
Rats are very affectionate and they show this in different ways.  Wanting
to be around you, their favorite human, is one way.  Another way is by
grooming you.  Rats enjoy licking on your fingers, and when you put
them on your shoulder, they'll happily clean your neck and ears for you!
(They'll even clean behind your ears for you, but make sure your mom
doesn't know!)
There are few things cuter in this world than baby animals and a baby rat
is one of the cutest around!  A young rat that has just opened his eyes
and is first exploring the world around him is adorable!  You'll enjoy watching them
grow and
mature into the lovely adult rats they become.
As you can see, rats can make awesome pets!  But they aren't the right
pet for everyone.
